“Altair”, Hull #191, is a classic, well-built, straightforward cruiser/racer with ample storage and simple, accessible systems. The Tartan 33 was designed by revered Sparkman & Stephens as a comfortable cruising boat with good sailing performance in deep and shallow water. Altair has had 3 owners and has sailed exclusively on the freshwaters of the Great Lakes. Comfortable enough for four, Altair is very easy to rig & sail which makes it a great choice for cruising.

Tartan sailboats are known for their solid, high quality construction.  The interior is oiled teak with white overhead, eight opening ports, fore & main cabin deck hatches and a teak and holly cabin sole.  “Altair” has the classic warmth and appeal of a true yacht.The forward cabin sleeps two with port & starboard shelf space, two swivel lights, large foredeck hatch, and bi-fold door for privacy.  A filler cushion bridges the area between the 6’04” berths, making one large continuous double berth when desired.The head compartment runs the full width of the boat.  The head is to starboard with a manual head & holding tank, molded sink and counter top, pressure hot & cold water, mirror, opening port with screen. The shower is to port with teak shower grate, and independent shower sump pump (2021), linen locker, and opening port w/screen.The salon’s starboard settee converts to a comfortable double berth with storage behind and outboard.  The port settee is short with storage behind and a pilot berth outboard.  The dinette table folds up against the forward bulkhead.  There is a double quarter berth to port.  Good light and ventilation are provided by both reading and dome lights, courtesy lights, multiple opening ports w/screens, deck hatches, and the companionway.  The interior grab rails make movement below decks safe and secure in a seaway.The galley straddles the companionway with storage galore, stainless steel sink near center line with a cold water foot pump, hot and cold pressure water with a 10 gallon, 110v AC/engine heated hot water heater, and a gimbaled, three burner Gas Systems CNG stove with oven to starboard. The large, insulated ice box is to port just forward of the nav station and aft of the settee.The forward facing navigation station is to port at the front of the quarter berth with a 30”X42” chart table.  There are additional storage drawers under and cabinet outboard.  110V outlet added.
